Every Beginning Comes From Some Other Beginning's End

I'm really not much of a writer, but I do think this will be a good way to keep documentation of my future time in the United States Air Force.

I begin my first post by contemplating the last 23 years. Time is a concept that is difficult for me to understand, but it is something that has suggested I join the world's greatest Air Force. In time I have made decisions, choices, actions, and completed many challenges that have led me up to where I stand today. The very nature of time as a key role in each of those processes puts me at the cornerstone of the civilian and military worlds.

In just over a week, I will commence training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. I'm not sure exactly what my future will hold during those 8.5 weeks, but I am sure that I will become a better man- an Airman to be exact. I have prepared by reading several articles online and checking out two great pieces of literature from the library: The Ultimate Basic Training Guidebook, and the Airman's Guide, 7th Edition. Every detail of advice has informed me of the difficult tasks which lay ahead, including physical and written examinations. Although I am somewhat nervous about this training, I know that it should be no problem to follow in the footsteps of the thousands of men and women before me and to finish with honor. After those long and rigorous weeks in TX, my new home will become Monterey, CA.

Let me just say, I cannot wait to start my duties there. The best way for me to properly describe my feeling is, "stoked!" I will go there training to be a cryptographic linguist for Air Force intelligence. Talk about a sweet job, right!? This position requires a Top Secret Clearance issued by the United States government though, so I'm not sure I will be able to write about many work related duties. This blog will discuss everything else I do as an Airman. Years ago when I was a student at the University of Colorado I only dreamed of having such a position in the world, but alas that dream is now becoming a reality. And as quickly as this time is about to make itself the present, I need to cherish this last week in CO and remember where I've come from and how I've gotten where I am. Because like the lyrics of that Semisonic song suggest, this new beginning is just the product of another beginning's end. A good ending here is surely going to welcome a good beginning there.
